Awesome chair. Program seems headed in right direction, chair wants to recruit more high-powered research names. Very good volume, very good hospital and referring departments. Faculty shake up occurred a few years ago, but program seems to have that b
- Program Disadvantages:
Faculty left a few years ago because of the old chair making changes, but that chair is no longer a part of the program. Not as much research as I expected, but new chair is trying to change that.

Very strong camaraderie. Residents seemed closest knit of any program I interviewed. Mayo name with Mayo money and resources.

4 interviews: 2 attendings, program chair, chief resident. Very laid back interviews, very friendly. Sort of disorganized in the day's schedule with interviews. Tour and noon conference.
- Program Advantages:
No fellows, very strong IR. Strong abdominal. Level 1 trauma center, nice facilities. High volume, early independence with night shift reads. Strong for a community porgram.
- Program Disadvantages:
Not as good reputation as other programs in Chicago.

- Program Advantages:
Lots of hands on experience, very good IR.
- Program Disadvantages:
Program not as strong as some others in Chicago, chair is aware of that fact. Very little research.

- Program Advantages:
Residents are known for working hard, well known by private practices in Chicago area, and very highly regarded there.

Not as much research as other academic institutions. Facilities are quite old, but the new chair is trying to move department to 2nd floor with new renovated area. Very formal; residents required to wear white coats in reading room. Very tough call sch

- Program Advantages:
Excellent didactics. Excellent research opportunities. Program is on the cutting edge of PACS software; the guy who implemented it is there.
- Program Disadvantages:
Not as much volume as other institutions, although acquisition of North Shore hospital allows higher volume during that rotation since it is a private hospital.

Very laid back. 4 15 minute interviews, 2 attendings, 2 residents. Very nice introductory powerpoint, tour of hospital, noon conference.
- Program Advantages:
Excellent faculty and excellent facilities. Good reputation. Large institution. Fellows don't split residents' work, there is enough work to go around.
- Program Disadvantages:
Very large program (~15 per class), although can be good or bad thing, depending on perspective.

Iowa

5 20 minute interviews. Tour and lunch. Dinner the night before. Very laid back, conversational interviews.
- Program Advantages:
Good didactics. Very good volume, only tertiary care center in Iowa. Adequate research, 2 months protected time for research.
- Program Disadvantages:
No moonlighting.

Maine

Does not allow residents to go to AIRP (AFIP). Did not see the hospital since we were in Chicago, but they offered a chance to visit.
