Interview Experiences Okay. great I liked this program better than I thought I would Really friendly staff and residents. Laid back. Biggest question was 'why this program' Program Coordinator was a little intense as she seemed bothered by little things. Don't know if I would want to be coordinated by her for four years. PD was very nice. Ranked 5/20. Nice pd and pc, nice pre interview dinner, great weather, Grilled somewhat inappropriately over research by one interviewer saying that she did not think that anyone did the surgery I was associated with anymore. Every resident continually spoke of how they worked harder than any program. Interviewed with 6 people; the chair, PD, two attendings and two senior residents. Lunch and conference in the afternoon. Smooth day and a very relaxed interview process. I had good vibes throughout the day. There was a dinner after the interview at a loc Dr. Wynn is a hoot. I loved him. Residents were layed back and easy to talk to. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Advantages Enthusiastic PD. call schedule, call rooms, residents laid back, resident-friendly PD Beautiful city.
Balanced program. Location is awesome, so beautiful. Proton therapy institute Nice hospital. Jacksonville is nice. Nice climate, things to do. Good place to raise a family. Very nice PD. Medium sized program which serves more of a poorer Population. A lot of pathology and a lot of poorer population. awesome residents lounge. The teaching here is independent they give you a lot of autonomous control. Decent volume. Level 1 trauma center. Large volume of work. Fully paid health insurance for the whole family 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Disadvantages Location. Rotations at multiple sites in different parts of town. Small size residents stated they were overworked, poorly organized lectures Work schedule sounds horrendous. Not in the safest area Reputation not as good as other programs in Florida. Not research heavy 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
