Interview Experiences IMG friendly - interviewed and had residents who were IMG's. Interview room very hard to find. Given bottle of water and taken to eat lunch in cafeteria. First half of interview group will get to leave an hour earlier. one panel intvw, only got to meet one resident Weird. 3 min long interviews. Two questions: tell me about yourself?, do you have any questions? PD and staff are not at all interested in the process. 3 people interview you, and it lasts for 2-3min. WASTE OF MONEY to fly up there. Ranked 20/20 Horrific. Walk through pathology labs to get to radiology 'department.' Sit in a small conference room with 15 other applicants to wait for PD who is notorious for being late. 3 on 1 interview only 5 minutes long. Waste of time. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Advantages Chief resident seemed to be responsible for the bulk of running the program and ranking the candidates. NYC location. moonlighting
can live in Manhattan Residents happy, pathology unique to underserved, match well into fellowships. GOOD PAY! Moonlighting. NYC if you like it. NYC living for the truly desperate. Most residents live in Manhattan. Good moonlighting opportunities so that you can live far away from this hospital. Busy program, so you may be very well trained in terms of handling volume. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Disadvantages PD did not seem very involved in recruitment process. Questionable board pass rate: PD's presentation says 63% but then claims that is no longer the case. Lots of part-time faculty who don't appear to do much teaching. Advice for fellowship application appears to be lacking. Do not interview here unless it is a life or death situation bronx, dangerous, crappy hospital, nucs weak. Program director just uninterested. NYC if you dont like it. Not in a great area of NYC. Very expensive housing in NYC, bad if you wanna raise a family. Location. This place is in a really bad part of the Bronx. Only 1-2 faculty members for each section, so teaching is not going to be amazing. Resident happiness? Only met 2 residents during the whole day. Where are the rest hiding? 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
