Interview Experiences Worst interview experience ever!! Poorly organized, no lunch, no lectures, PD was late and just a bit out there. sit down with chief and applicants (3 of us). two interviews. not much else. Interview day not well planned
PD very friendly
Terrible. Nobody seemed organized, the attendings interviewing seemed put out by the presence of the applicants. Residents definitely were inaccessible. Interview cleverly timed to avoid both breakfast and lunch (you will leave 1:30, hungry). Told to help myself to coffee only to find coffee machine off and never stocked. Have yet to talk to applicant who met PD; was always gone during interviews. Program Advantages Columbia lectures at 7:30 am qDaily, trauma center, consortium program which means you get out of Harlem Hospital for a few months every year pathology, am report at columbia The program director, she was very positive and upbeat about the direction of Harlem. She definitely has goals for radiology there and I hope that she can achieve them! Manhattan location. Looks like lots of recent faculty turnover resulting in very young full-time faculty (I think of this as a plus). Columbia fellowships due to relationship. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Disadvantages One 1-slice CTscanner, No PetCT, Old machines, high attending turnover Outdated equipments
Many rotations outside the main hospital
Tough call schedule There seemed to be no team environment. All the residents seemed to be in a negative mood. Attendings seemed way too busy to be of any use. HHC hospital, which probably takes some getting used to. I rotated through Bellevue so was less surprised. Workhorse program, expect most learning through reading and not teaching. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
