Match Experience Regional bias is real but not impossible to overcome. My couple is from the midwest and I'm from the east coast and we matched at U of Chicago (Rads / OBGYN). However, I strongly believe that I wouldn't have matched there had I not rotated there. Therefore, away rotations are extremely helpful (and make the interviewing process at that program much easier). I suggest doing away rotations at programs you REALLY want to go to in areas that are not within your region. NYC is incredibly competitive as applicants are willing to go to less competitive programs in order to live in NYC. As you can see my resume is not necessarily stellar, but U of C is a stellar program. If programs like you on away rotations, you're foot will be in the door. PURSUE AWAY ROTATIONS!!! DO IT! Also interviewed at Strong Memorial which isn't on this list.
