Beautiful campus, 3 interviews 1 vs 1. One with chair and rest with faculty. They were very nice.
- Program Advantages:
Good surgical volume 150-200, Location.
- Program Disadvantages:
Staggered start 2 of the residents may start as late as 9 months behind first resident. Mostly voluntary faculty.

- Program Advantages:
Location, good surgical volume 150-200. Very nice faculty
- Program Disadvantages:
7th Day advantist so a little bit religious, doesn't necessarily have to be a disadvantage but I felt a little out of place. Poor reputation.

Great location, large program. 6 residents I think. Faculty seemed nice.

Not much research opportunity. Poor surgical volume 80-110 cataracts.

Tour, 7 or 8 interviews. 1 on 1 with faculty including chair. Very hot even in middle of december. Raining. Few very tough interviews where they grilled me on the details of my application.
- Program Advantages:
Possibly considered #1 training program in the country. 24/7 Eye ED staffed by residents. World renowned faculty. Great fellows, great research. Lots of $$$
- Program Disadvantages:
Majority of your patients are Spanish speaking. Many of the faculty I talked to seemed to think they are the best and I felt they did not appreciate any criticism about the program. 'this program is perfect'

Chairman doesn't seem to be in a proper state of mind. He accused one of the applicants that she is not 'Asian' and asked her why she is serving in an Asian service organization => She was from India, and last time I checked, India is part of the Asian co

- Program Advantages:
Fantastic clinic, newly renovated. Entire department takes the whole floor with every subspecialty clinic. World renowned faculty. Great research. Daily grand rounds. Very academic. Cheap cost of living.
- Program Disadvantages:
Saturday lectures (can be advantage or disadvantage depending on who you are) Iowa is middle of nowhere. Cold.

Poor surgical volume 80-90 cataracts. Detroit isn't a great place to live. I did not feel safe around the hospital area.
