Interview Experiences
Breakfast/Intro 10 faculty interviews! Lunch Tour
Half-day. Tour, followed by 4 2-on-1 interviews. Appeared that some faculty and resident were not present for the day.
Relaxed day with the residents being very laid back and friendly. Interview day divided up well so that individual groups seemed small (5 per tour and interview slot). Nice, short tour. One interviewer seemed disinterested and rushed and kept cutting me o
Several panel-style (2:1) interviews. Very strong in retina, with many matching into great fellowships. Mostly friendly faculty, however, Dr. Hariprasad was kind of a prick during interviews fyi, not sure if this was just his personality

Program Disadvantages
no surgical scheduler, all private attendings
Questionable surgical volume
Interim chair. Ophtho is not its own department here - it's a section within the Surgery dept.
Not the best Chicago program, whatever that means.
Ophthalmology is a department in surgery.
small opht dept, part of surgery south side of chicago
