Very comfortable interview day with 5-6 2:1 interviews and fireside chat with Dr. Fine.
Program Advantages
Very friendly atmosphere, supportive faculty.
Happy residents, rotate at Children's, VA, Scheie, HUP. Great fellowship placement.
Very strong academic program. Excellent opportunities and encouragement for research. Extremely dedicated program director. Emphasis on education at all levels.
Renovating old facilities at Scheie, all 3 locations (HUP, Scheie, and CHOP) are great, FANTASTIC teaching
Joan o'brien is new chair
Program Disadvantages
Low volume? old facilties
Not the most amazing surgical volume but I think this is not as much of a problem as people make it out to be.
Stuart Fine stepping down, uncertainty of future, very low cataracts and surgical #s, although the PD emphasized that the numbers belie the fact that they are 'well taught' surgeries
low surgical numbers Wills only 2 miles away
