Interview Experiences 4 interviews, including Steven Ryan, Ron Smith and two others horrible,
very poor recruiting effort,
only possible resident interaction was at optional resident dinner (no residents during the entire interview day),
grumpy program coordinator 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Advantages Great volume, autonomy at county hospital. Will be wonderfully trained to face anything. PD loves his job,
high clinical and surgical volume doheny. treat residents nicely 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Disadvantages Spend 2 of 3 years at LA County, not Doheny. Doheny faculty generally don't attend at LA County. financial difficulties (not enough money to purchase simulator),
in-house call,
no permanent wet lab facilities
county - very busy - overnight in house call. rounds start at 6am Doheny is not affiliated with USC
most of big name faculty have left, unpredictable rankings in the next few years only young faculty remain, no more doheny doheny is gone
program tries to shake off 'transition' but very clear that big name faculty have left 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
