Interview Experiences
Vice chair, 3 faculty incl program director. Chair was present but did not welcome the applicants
Grilled about methods of doing research. Formal reception and tour night before interview (tie).
Positive
Program Advantages
Amazing facilities. Many well-known faculty. Great fellowship placement.
Best facilities i have seen, excellent fellowship placement
Great research opportunities, strong emphasis on academic careers, constant supervision.
Strong research and clinical training. You are set for fellowship
Facilities, staff, fellowship opportunities, eased into pgy2, research
Awesome place, great people at Cole, new chairman Martin is going to make the place great, sweet fellowship matches, cush call
Beautiful hospital, program on the rise
Program Disadvantages
They are very fellowship oriented. I am undecided at this point but I want the option to just do general and they seemed to look down upon that idea.
relatively new program, cleveland, 9 mo per year at Cole eye, where there may be less autonomy.
Less autonomy than other places. Emphasized that you should do a fellowship upon finishing residency.
they expect that all graduates will go into academics
cleveland, still growing program
No VA system (yet), surgical #s are average, Cleveland sucks in the winter and can be dreary
Some residents didn't seem happy; decent surgical volume, little autonomy at Cleveland Clinic
