Pretty good. Some of the residents had strong personalities, somewhat to my disliking, but some were great. Faculty interviews went fine.
- Program Advantages:
MGH name. Decent moonlighting. Awesome city. They give you a laptop and $700/yr education fund. Not too overworked for a premier program. 80% go into private practice. Super easy to do research. 4-5 weeks of vacation per year.
- Program Disadvantages:
Perhaps less quality experience first year. Expensive city. Not an excellent place if you want to get good IR training during residency.

- Program Advantages:
Great program. 4 weeks vacation. Good moonlighting. Get some kind of $5000 bonus each November. $1200/yr book fund. Fairly nice city.
- Program Disadvantages:
Very hierarchial. Seemed kind of arrogant to me. Crappy PACS.

Nice interviewers. This was my second interview and I think I probably came off really bad, but I guess it worked out alright. Great dinner the night before.
- Program Advantages:
Great reputation. Most studies and faculty of all of the 186 or however many programs there are. Best facilities (although OHSU had a more beautiful campus). Relatively laid back. Great moonlighting. Super cheap cost of living. Give you a laptop. H
- Program Disadvantages:
Rochester, MN-not much going on here other than Mayo and IBM.

- Program Advantages:
Sweet categorical year (only have to do like 3-4 months of clinical rotations 1st year). Solid program. Decent moonlighting. Super cool residents and faculty.

Relatively high crime rate of city. Rather small program. Kind of low base pay.

- Program Advantages:
Beautiful city. Solid program. Great IR-IR originated here. Extremely laid back, definitely don't stress doing research. Most beautiful campus of any I saw, hospitals are up on a huge hillside and VA is connected to OHSU via 660 ft catwalk with beauti
- Program Disadvantages:
No real moonlighting. Parking is $60/mo. Not many overall.

- Program Advantages:
Great reputation. Only place where you get a lot of OB ultrasound/MR training. Lots of moonlighting. Effectively like 6-7 weeks of vacation per year. $500/yr book fund + paid AFIP + $2000 stipend for AFIP. Cheap cost of living.
- Program Disadvantages:
Hospital is in a bad looking neighborhood. Otherwise no other negatives.

Virginia

Multiple different hospitals to rotate at. Worked more hours than other programs. Semi-expensive cost of living. Maybe pushed research a little too hard.

Match Experience
Plan ahead, it can be VERY expensive on the interview trail, especially if you have to fly all over. It's tough to decide which program is the best or which factors to use to make your rank list, but realize that there are probably multiple programs at which you would be equally happy--so don't stress too much about the list if you can't figure out your top couple of programs...it's probably because they're all equally good.
