Great group of residents. Took us to a very nice lunch. I was very impressed by the program.

- Interview Experience:
The longest one I had; goes from 8AM-4PM with 5 faculty and 1 chief resident interviews. But there is a lot of down time. Pretty standard 15-20 min interviews.
- Program Advantages:
Medium sized program. It is an up and coming rads program in Cali. New pavilion will house ED rads. Great fellowships and research opportunities. A solid academic program. 12k/4yr book allowance. Physics course is provided 3 times while in residency
- Program Disadvantages:
It's in Sacramento which isn't the best city. But it is close to Tahoe and SF.
  U California (Irvine):
- Applied

- Matched here (Ranked # 3)
- Interview Experience:
Separated into AM or PM. Takes a couple hours. 4 interviews at 30 min each. Everyone who has interviewed there has a picture on the wall.
- Program Advantages:
Great camaraderie between staff and residents alike. New hospital will house some of the rads dept. 10 min to Disneyland?

Expensive location. Lots of traffic.

- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
3 interviews - 1 with chief resident. Laidback. I was told that they submit your name to their rank list immediately after the interview (while interviewees are eating lunch).
- Program Advantages:
High volume. Houston has lots to do and is cheap. Moonlighting opportunities.
- Program Disadvantages:
The residents were the most overworked I had seen, but said they were happy.

- Interview Experience:
4 interviews. They are very open about the program and realize it is not a so-called 'top tier' program. Lunch with 2 residents - not much of a tour.
- Program Advantages:
Focused on teaching. San Antonio is cheap.
- Program Disadvantages:
Few research opportunities. Little resident interaction.

Match Experience
10/5/08: Rejected from St. Joseph's in AZ :( 11/21/08: So lots of rejections, but some interviews as well. This is a crapshoot. Couples matching. This was a tough rads year - 17% increase in applicant pool. But I matched to my #3 choice (any in the top 6 would have been fine with me).
