6 rapid fire 3:1 interviews, one of which is with the current PGY-2s. Very quick interview day; finished after lunch, no needless waiting around.
- Program Advantages:
Very strong clinical and surgical education. Good opportunities for research involvement. Majority of training in resident clinics at county and VA hospitals. Great relationship between faculty and residents.
- Program Disadvantages:
Long hours. Not a lot of time to read. No built in research or elective time.

Eye ER, again, strength and weakness. I'm not sure if I felt like I would fit in.

One of my favorite interview days even though I was vomitting the whole day. The staff, residents, and faculty were some of the best people I met on the trail.

Great clinical program. Amazing new eye center being constructed. Seemed like very good resident-faculty relationships. Ann-Arbor.
- Program Disadvantages:
Not many; had an extraordinarily hard time not putting this program #1

Low key tour with residents and interviews with faculty. Everyone was great and the dinner before was a lot of fun.
- Program Advantages:
Good academic program. Excellent if you are interested in retina research with the Ligon center.
- Program Disadvantages:
A great program. Most people live in the suburbs instead of downtown Detroit.

Very few that I could see. I really liked this program.

- Program Advantages:
Very tough decision between this and my number one. Amazing surgical and clinical volume. Excellent, friendly faculty. Very up to date facilities and equipment. Emphasis on international service. Research elective built in early on.
- Program Disadvantages:
Not any really. Portland and Casey were fantastic.

Pennsylvania

Very comfortable interview day with 5-6 2:1 interviews and fireside chat with Dr. Fine.
- Program Advantages:
Very strong academic program. Excellent opportunities and encouragement for research. Extremely dedicated program director. Emphasis on education at all levels.
- Program Disadvantages:
Not the most amazing surgical volume but I think this is not as much of a problem as people make it out to be.

Awesome interview day that was short enough to even allow TY interview at UPMC.
- Program Advantages:
Great, personable, invested program director. Possibility of moving resident clinic to new site serving more indigent population. Pittsburgh is a great city with lots to do.
- Program Disadvantages:
Only disadavantage may have been NM rotation but everyone there said they loved it and it was a big plus.

Dr. Blomquist is a great salesman of an excellent program.
- Program Advantages:
Great clinical and surgical training with top notch facilities and an excellent VA and county hospital experience. The only academic eye center in the city. Great wet lab. One of my favorite programs.
- Program Disadvantages:
Not very many. Residents hit the ground running without much prep (also a strength).

Virginia
