Alabama U Alabama - Birmingham: | | | - Applied - Attended interview - Interview Experience:
| Attended grand rounds in the morning, included presentations by Dr. Girkin (chair) and Dr. Mason (retina) about the surgical volume and research opportunities in between grand rounds talks. Interviews were 3 panels of 4 faculty that lasted 15 minutes | - Program Advantages:
| Strong retina program with amazing faculty and lots of research. Ridiculously high surgical volume (10k surgeries last year). 200+ cataracts. Private practice feel with clinic. Protected 5 week research block optional. | - Program Disadvantages:
| Birmingham is decent. Looks a little old but there are definitely things to do. Surprised this program isn't ranked. |
