Match Experience
Attended 13 interviews; matched at #1 program. Makes me think I did not need to go to half of those places. It's better to over-apply and have too many options; you can then be selective about where you choose to interview. Be yourself on interview day; that's all they want to see. Big name LOR's are not as important as you think; find people who know you well. A thank you note to the PD after your interview is probably sufficient; you don't need to write one to every person you interview with. Regardless of how hard people try to downplay their importance, strong grades and high board scores are paramount and will open doors.
