Interview Experiences
Dinner with resident the night before, at a really nice restaurant. 1:1 interviews (~7). Very friendly faculty.
Long interview day Q15-20 minutes 8 attendings, pre-interview texas bbq, comprehensive tour of Cizik, Hermann, peds hospital, lifelight; 9:3 f/m ratio gives a unique vibe, friendly but not 'warm' atmosphere

Program Disadvantages
little research. To do LASIK need to do away rotation
Residents take lots of call during their first two years. This is another program that is very loyal to their students (4/4 spots were UT Houston one recent year). Consider this when you're deciding between interviews.
lower cataract numbers (~130 avg) 2/2 insufficient surgical space (expansion currently happening), 'too relaxed' atmosphere, residents and attendings give off a weird vibe (concerned with money, clothes, iphones)
