Match Experience Non-trad student, lots of work experience as engineer, pilot in a previous life, military.
At every interview the same things were focused on: the military and work experience. Grades/scores weren't even mentioned, EVER. My best advice to anyone getting going in this process is to not lean too much on your grades, because it will be very difficult to distinguish yourself from your peers by that alone. At every big famous program I interviewed, I was usually middle-to-bottom of the pack grade-wise (and yes, some applicants will volunteer their grades/scores at interviews, whether you want to hear it or not). So in my opinion, if you want to land a Hopkins, a Penn, or a Harvard, try and bring something truly unique to the table.
