Match Experience
Was mostly interested in small to medium-sized cities, so I stayed away from Boston/NY/Chicago/CA programs for the most part.

I cast a wide net with my applications because of a blemish on my transcript that turned out to not be an issue during the interview process. Got interviews at 23 of the 28 programs I applied to, and wound up going on 15. This was way too many in retrospect, but I have no regrets because I was pleasantly surprised by at least one program that I wound up ranking highly on each of my trips to the different regions I applied to.

Despite going on 15 interviews all around the country, I didn't spend an exorbitant amount of money. The key to keeping costs down during interview season is to bundle your interviews in regions so you can hit them all in one trip with one flight and a rental car. Trying to schedule this may seem like a nightmare at first, but if you just block out weeks for the different regions at the outset and reply to your invites ASAP, it will all work itself out. Good luck!
