Interview Experiences Horrible. It was my first interiview. Very snooty. There is a sense of declaration in answer to the queries not an effort to allay your questions. If would have gone without a preconceived notion of ccf being one of the country's hospitals, I would hhave fantastic Very large group. A lot of down time in between interviews. Horrible. 4 interviews with Faculty and residents each 5 min long. Very strong program very good interview day. Great dinner with nice hotel. Huge group of applicants. More DO and foreign applicants than other programs. Impressive facilities, SO MUCH MONEY. Lots of interviewers, all nice. Werent very many residents at interview dinner Werent very many residents at interview dinner Place is ginormous 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Advantages I think the name of the institution says for itself. great moonlighting, great fellowships, strong clinical training, great CBY I'm sure you would get some great cases here. Networking They know they are the Cleveland clinic Cardiac and ICU. All the money for every anesthesia toy i'd ever want. Great complexity of cases, great fellowships in house. Moonlighting paying crazy money. Intern year is truly integrated have 4 months of anesthesia (NO weekend call though 1st year!); intern said she was averaging 40 hr/wk getting out by 3pm, All health insurance (family included) paid for by hospital, Get paid if they stay after 5:30pm ( Intern year is truly integrated have 4 months of anesthesia (NO weekend call though 1st year!); intern said she was averaging 40 hr/wk getting out by 3pm, All health insurance (family included) paid for by hospital, Get paid if they stay after 5:30pm ( They do everything under the sun, especially heart related stuff. Program is wealthy. Living in area is pretty cheap. Faculty seem pretty vested in improving program. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Disadvantages hours I preferred a site with a little lower volume. Residents and their education are not first priority here. Surgery factory. lots of foriegn trained already practicing doctors who just want to take the american board. As of 2011 when I interviewed they were on a 3-year accreditation cycle for prior citations, the shortest I saw on the interview trail. That alone scared me off. Too many chefs in the kitchen, tons of fellows, residents- even with 100 OR's, there's encroaching going on. Didn't meet the PD there, but there are like 10 heads of the department or so it seemed. I'm not sure you'd easily get a competitive fellowship at Cleveland is a pretty crappy city (there is bad neighborhood not too far from the hospital) although around the main hospital it seems fairly safe, Some surgeons have big egos about being the best in the world, not many trees/ parks Cleveland is a pretty crappy city (there is bad neighborhood not too far from the hospital) although around the main hospital it seems fairly safe, Some surgeons have big egos about being the best in the world, not many trees/ parks Area around hospital is dead. Cleveland isn't the nicest place to live but not terrible either. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
