Happiest residents you will find. Gainesville is awesome, central location.

Great research if that's your thing. Strong fellowships.
- Program Disadvantages:
Atlanta traffic is horrible. Spend way more time at Grady than they make you think, and the residents we saw there were not smiling. Program director is trying to make Emory become a Top 10 research program which is won't be.

Went out night before with residents and one young attending. Didnt feel too good during the interviews. Resdients seemed a little too enthusiastic, almost desperate.
- Program Advantages:
New Orleans if you like that.
- Program Disadvantages:
Really expensive area to live in with not very nice houses.

Everyone was super nice. Chair asks absurd questions, but they are the same for everyone.
- Program Advantages:
Great pathology. Enthusiastic, young PD. Residents nearly all moonlight. Pretty laid back residency. Lots of attendings.
- Program Disadvantages:
Stability of faculty was a question. 24 hr attending coverage in ED may be a negative to training.
North Carolina
  Wake Forest U SOM:

Awesome program. Radiology dept is really respected at Wake.
- Program Disadvantages:
Winston isnt for everyone. If you're married it would be an awesome, safe, inexpensive city with lots of good restaurants.

Tennessee

Nice transitional year. Cool college town if that's your thing.
- Program Disadvantages:
College town if that's not your thing. Got the feeling that the residents were worked to death and not very happy. Other applicants aggreed with this observation.

- Program Advantages:
Memphis is cool city. Good mixture of different patient populations and pathology.

Small interview group. Everyone was really nice. PD is kinda reserved but obviously cares a great deal about his residents.
- Program Advantages:
Strong reputaion. Nashville is awesome city with tons to do. Good moonighting.
- Program Disadvantages:
Traditional call instead of night float which is a positive to some. It helps with the moonlighting.

Texas

Awesome day. PD is really young and enthusiastic. Got the hint that a 2nd look visit or away there was required to match there.
- Program Advantages:
Awesome faculty. PD is awesome. Good mixed academic/private feel. Residents get awesome jobs after residency.
- Program Disadvantages:
Residents work very hard but seemed genuinely happy.

- Program Advantages:
Good reputation. Research if you want it.
- Program Disadvantages:
The county hospital, Parkland, is old but has great pathology and is being replaced in 2 years anyway.

Virginia

PD is kinda strange but very nice. Chair is really nice. Dept is very cool. New hospitals are amazing.
- Program Advantages:
Awesome research. Incredible hospital. Charlottesville is only 2 hours from DC.
- Program Disadvantages:
Charlottesville isn't for everyone. Expensive city for the South.

Match Experience
If you really want to be at a program, don't hesitate to let them know. Programs usually want people that really want to be there since they make the happiest residents.
