Interview Experiences short interview. many nerdy residents--it is MGH though. one interview (out of three) with exceptional female faculty member who made a great impression. ok, PD wasn't my kind of person, more research oriented, but its MGH Information session, 3 interviews (2 faculty members, chair), lunch, tour (Ether Dome and all). Generally quite relaxed, except for the interview w/Dr. Zapol (then chair). Introduction with PD and chair. 5 interviews. Nice tour of the ether dome. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Advantages MGH name, great experience, research. pain program being revamped big name, lots of cases. strong critical care program While I think that MGH provides great training (particularly in CT, critical care, peds, pain, and research), I think that its greatest strengths are reputation and location. Very well rounded. No real weaknesses. Very prestigious name. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Disadvantages antiquated didactics, program appears to be relying on name its MGH and they know it, seem to rest on laurels a little Seemed to be weak in regional anesthesia. No moonlighting. Its a program that, IMO, falls on the wrong side of the service/education balance. Staggered start to CA-1 year. Very research oriented. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
