Interview Experiences Extremely friendly people. Good pre-interiew social. Relaxed interview day, other than some higher-stress interview sessions. Nice talk with dept. chair. Average experience. Two of my interviewers clearly had not read my packet before I showed up. Worst pre-interview dinner of the season. Just coming off probation so a lot of time was spent explaining that away. Dinner was fun and casual. Residents were very friendly. Interviews were pretty standard from what I could tell with four total for about 20 minutes each. Five 20 min interviews. Good mix of fun and 'interview' type questions. Attendings and residents some of the friendliest group I've ever met. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Advantages Family-oriented (residents brought their spouses and children to pre-interview dinner). Collegial atmosphere. Strong education, good basic sciences research opportunities. Fantastic city. Master's tickets available to residents. Good study volume. Residents have a nice schedule and good relationship with attendings. It seems that one can get plenty of procedural experience as long as you show initiative. Very friendly group. Facilities quite nice. Newly hired IR attendings and expanding in other depts. Chair Dr. Rawson involved in health policy nationally, involves residents too. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
Program Disadvantages Small program, small name. Augusta isn't for everyone. Variety of PACS systems. They are on probation. Seems like there are problems at the core of the institution that aren't going to be fixed just by being put on probation. Augusta is terrible. Masters sounds nice but that week is horrendous for residents of the city. Currently have less body MRI experience than most places, which is why many of the residents choose to get a fellowship in this. Overall, not bad though. Augusta didn't seem as bad as others have made it out to be as long as you avoid certain parts. Smallish size, in the process of switching to full PACS. 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17
