Fast! All the faculty will know your application well, which was refreshing and nice. Not much chance to make an impression or get an impression
- Program Advantages:
This place trains you in everything, embraces all parts of dermatology, and does them all well. Its training is broader than any other program I went to. I love the city as well.
- Program Disadvantages:
It is a big, crazy, hospital and clinic, which is great and stressful, but the training can't be beat.

  Mayo (Rochester):

- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Lots of waiting around like most places. Almost got in a car wreck on my way back to the airport.
- Program Advantages:
You see a lot of patients with weird stuff and more bread-and-butter than you would expect. The environment is very nurturing.
- Program Disadvantages:
Narrower training than some places. No cosmetics. You will never take a Mohs layer here. I felt like the residents were not as knowledgeable as at other places. Maybe because it's so warm and fuzzy?

I loved the residents. They were my favorite residents of the whole interview trail. I liked meeting everyone and not having too much down time.
- Program Advantages:
Galveston is a cool place to live I think, but it may be too quiet for some people. I thought the faculty were all cool and laid back. I would have been very happy here.
- Program Disadvantages:
Lots of driving now that their clinics are all over the place.
  U Texas Southwestern:

Kind of weird. No one had read my CV, and I felt like there was a bit of a confrontational attitude.
- Program Advantages:
Lots of patients and unusual pathology. Great place if you want to become a basic scientist.
- Program Disadvantages:
Residents get chewed out a lot and put on the spot all the time, but they know their stuff. They have frequent quizzes.

Match Experience
Very happy to be going to Miami. This process is so horrible and painful. Apply everywhere if you can, and be humble and grateful for every interview. Lots of awesome people do not make it in Derm, which is sad, but just the way things are I guess.
