North Carolina

Lots of research, great residents, cheap cost of living, wonderful location and weather. Fantastic didactics.

- Program Disadvantages:
Smaller program than others. Less research than expected.
  Wake Forest U SOM:

Some big names on faculty. Fun residents. Good benefits.
- Program Disadvantages:
Not tons of research opportunities IMHO, but they are there.

Pennsylvania

most Resident-centric program I visited. Amazing IR rotations for residents. Special tracks for different interests. Specialized didactics. Rotate at CHOP (#1 peds hospital). Research is huge. Very little call.
