Interview Experiences
nearly 23 candidates interviewed on the same day but I liked everybody I met on the interview.
Work environment Bit of a run down hospital (kinda reminds me of HUH). Newly remodeled L&D floor thatˇ¦s VERY busy. Weird ICU setup with 4 pts in one large room separated by curtains. Peds wing that doesnˇ¦t seem to see a high pt volume (but they do ha

Very low stress. Two interviews with attendings. Program intro given by admissions committee chair. Q&A session with department chair.
on a saturday, standard questions, alot of other applicants
Half day...interviewed by two faculty members 15 min each. Situational questions.
2 interviews, 20 minutes each. The program director ir really cool. You need to sell yourself, make the most of those 20 minutes. Dont be too cocky, its like being on a date. Just enough to impress.
Good dinner, no hotel.

Strong faculty and didactics, high OR volume, many attendings double and triple boarded, stable program with well-known and respected director and department chair. Call decreases throughout residency.
private practice model, very efficient, you will see everything.
Amazing facilities and new hospital in construction.
Strong all across the board. PD has some pretty sick connections for fellowships. Private practice loves their grads.
New hospital, downtown Chicago. Get to be the Bull's anesthesiologist.

Limited anesthesia techs, so residents do most of the OR turnover; high OR volume means longer days than other Chicago programs.
No didactic, tough hours.
May be a surgery factory. Private group run.
Busy hours.
Residents eluded to some malignant features of the program, a big red flag for me.
